Sukhbir, Rupinder are best athletes

Rupinder Kaur and Sukhbir Singh were adjudged best athletes among girls and boys, respectively, in the annual athletics meet of Sutlej Public Senior Secondary School, Rahon road, here yesterday.

Mr Surjit Singh, former Director, Students Welfare, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, was the chief guest on the occasion.

BVM girls win TT title: Girls of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, bagged the title in the 15th All-India Vidya Bharti Table Tennis Championship held at Bhiwani from November 18 to 22.

Mr Baljeet Singh Gill, sports in charge, said the team, comprising Kirti Aggarwal (captain), Shveta Lamba, Somia and Nirdosh Sood, made their school proud by clinching the gold. In the final, they outplayed Rajasthan, 3-1. Earlier, on their way to the title clash, these paddlers had recorded a 3-1win over Madhya Pradesh.

Ravi, Navkaran share honours

Ravi Inder Singh and Navkaran Singh were declared the best athletes in the section of boys above the age of 14; and Rupinder Kaur won this title in the girls’ section of this age-group in the two-day 26th Annual Inter-house Athletics Meet of the Sarabha Nagar Guru Nanak Public School here yesterday.

Bhai Veer Singh House was declared the overall best. Col R.P.S. Dhillon, chief guest, gave away the prizes to the winners. Results: boys’ (u-14) 100 m — Sanamdeep Singh 1, Harmehar Singh 2 and Jaspreet Singh 3; 200 m — Gagandeep Singh 1, Sanamdeep Singh 2 and Manmohandeep Singh 3; 400 m — Gurpreet Singh 1, Manohardeep Singh 2 and Arshdeep Singh 3; long jump — Bhagwan Singh 1, Gagandeep Singh 2 and Sahbad Singh 3.
