Controversy rages over college control Ludhiana, November 21 Mr Tandon alleged that Mr Sathi was interfering in the affairs of Arya College with the help of the ruling party and police force. Mr Tandon claimed that he has not any legal status. Referring to the claims of Mr Sathi that he was appointed president by Mr Harbans Sharma, president of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Mr Tandon said since Mr Sharma was removed as president by the general house of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Punjab, at its meeting held on March 17, 2002, Mr Sathi had no legal claims. Mr Tandon maintained that as per the constitution of the Arya Vidya Parishad, the managing committee of any Arya institution is to be constituted by executive committee of the Parishad or by anyone to whom it delegates the powers, which were given to Dr K.K. Pasricha, working president of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha. Dr Pasricha has appointed Mr H.L. Sethi as secretary and he is the only legally appointed secretary of the college. Mr Tandon said that he had also filed a civil suit against Mr Harbans Lal Sharma and others for their alleged illegal acts. The suit is pending in the court of Mr Ashok Kapoor, Civil Judge, Ludhiana. Mr Sathi, he claimed, has no right to claim himself as president of the managing committee of Arya College and he should desist from his “illegal acts”. He condemned Mr Sathi for comparing Arya College with “madarsas”. He said Mr H.L. Sethi is a staunch “Arya Samaji” and is also the senior vice-president of the APSP and the AVPP Jalandhar in addition to secretary of MC of Arya College, Ludhiana. He claimed that Mr Sathi is not even the primary member of any Arya Samaj of Punjab. |
