Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, November 18

Dr Gagandeep Singh, neurologist, DMCH, said, "The Department of Neurology is actively working for the welfare of the epileptics. Besides carrying out special studies, we are focussing on organising awareness and counselling programmes.

Lack of awareness and superstitions related with the disease doubles the suffering of epileptics in our society”.

Dr Gagandeep said the camp was another afford in the direction of providing low cost treatment to people and to encourage them to opt for the right treatment instead of going to quacks.

He said that epilepsy was associated with considerable stigma in the society whereas children with epilepsy were mostly of normal intelligence.

“Not only this, some famous personalities have suffered from epilepsy, yet they made their respective marks in the history. Napolean Bonaparte 1, Alexender the Great and Alfered Nobel, the person who discovered dynamite and instituted the Nobel Prize and Lord Buddha were all epileptics”, said Dr Gagandeep Singh.
