Quack gets jail for death of animal
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, November 8
A quack vet, whose negligence led to the death of a bitch, has been told to undergo a three months imprisonment by a Delhi consumer court. The court had earlier, acting on a complaint by the bitch’s owner Mr. R C Shukla, ordered the quack veterinary surgeon, S Singh, to pay Rs 12,000 to the owner.

The accused, however, failed to pay the money, prompting the East Delhi District Consumer Forum to sentence him to three month’s imprisonment for non-compliance of its order. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1000, failing which the accused will have to undergo further imprisonment for one month.
