Indo-Nigerian Film Assn formed

New Delhi, November 1
The Minister Counselor of the Nigerian High Commission, Mr G. D. Akpan, has announced the formation of an Indo-Nigerian Film Association. The association will work towards strengthening friendly ties and promoting cultural ties between the two nations. Announcing the decision, Mr Akpan said that Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology had inspired his countrymen to seek freedom through non-violent means.

Director of the Asian Academy of Film and Television Sandeep Marwah has been appointed its chairman and Dr H. Ekwuazi has been appointed his deputy.

Dr Ekwuazi, who is the managing director of the Nigerian Film Development Corporation and National Film Institute of Nigeria, pointed out that Nigerian filmmakers had been influenced by their Indian counterparts.

Mr N. Vasudevan, Managing Director of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation, who was also present on the occasion, has offered all possible support to the persons trained at the Asian Academy of Film and TV should they express desire to work in Kerala.
