Doraha win kabaddi titles Ludhiana, October 30 In the girls section, Ramanpreet Kaur of Doraha and Sumanpreet Kaur of Dehlon block were named best raiders while Sandeep Singh of Doraha and Jaspreet Singh of Samrala block were declared best raiders in the boys section. In football (boys), Khanna beat Pakhowal 6-5. The issue was resolved through tie-breaker as both the teams were tied one goal each all at the end of the regular period. Earlier, the semi-finals, Khanna beat Machhiwara, 5-4, while Pakhowal prevailed over Ludhiana II, 3-2. Mr Anurag Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana gave away prizes. TT tourney Nishu recorded an easy win (3-0) over Shweta to bag the girls cadet title on the first day of the Ludhiana District Table Tennis Championship at Shastri Hall of Guru Nanak Sports Complex here today. Nishu beat Shweta 11-5, 11-4 and 11-2. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Shweta defeated Garima 11-7, 12-10 and 11-9 and Nishu outclassed Kirti 11-13, 11-9, 12-10 and 11-7. In the cadet boys section, Jagdeep and Abhijit fought it tooth and nail to overpower their opponents to secure their berths in final. In the semi-finals, Jagdeep faced stiff
resistance from his rival Sumit whom he outplayed 11-8, 12-14, 11-6, 8-11 and 11-8 while Abhijit too had tough time against Dharminder before romping home victorious 11-9, 11-9, 9-11 and 11-9. In the womens final, Nishu scraped past Kirti 6-11, 11-9, 12-14, 11-7 and 11-9 to clinch the title. Nishu and Kirti made their entry into the final by defeating Shweta and Gauri respectively in the semi-finals. Selection
trials on Nov 7 Ludhiana, October 30 These trials will be held in disciplines- archery, hockey, kho-kho, weightlifting, wrestling and tug-of-war (boys and girls) and kabaddi for girls. Players born on or after January 1, 1987, and with rural background are eligible to take part in these games. Meanwhile, the district teams for athletics, football and volleyball will be finalised on the basis of the performance of the players during the two-day Ludhiana District Inter-Block Rural Games which
