CHB team gets house evicted
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, October 28
A two-storey house in Dhanas, located on the western side of the city beyond the cremation ground, was got evicted by a team of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) today. According to sources, the house had been wrongly allotted in the first place and then sold off at a premium.

The original allotment had been made to one Mr Gandharv Sen. At the time of the actual possession, someone had forged the signatures of the allottee and taken over the physical possession. The person then sold it off to the present occupant, who paid a premium to purchase the semi-built portion and then went on to make the house a double-storey unit.

A direction from court was to give the house to the original allottee. Sources in the CHB said this will act as an example for those who purchase houses from allottees of various rehabilitation schemes.
