R K Puram win DPS cricket title

Delhi Public School (DPS), R K Puram defeated DPS, Mathura Road by six wickets in the final of the Kanwar Ashish Inter-DPS Cricket Tournament at the R K Ground. Justice Kuldip Singh gave away the prizes at an impressive prize distribution function, in which principal of DPS, R K Puram, Shyam Chona was also present.

In a nail-biting finish, R K Puram cruised to the title in the last over of the 30-over-a-side match. It was a sweet revenge for R K Puram, who had suffered a last-over defeat at the hands of Mathura Road in the fifth edition of the tournament last year.

The main attraction of this year's tournament was the introduction of a tiny-tots competition, in which kids from only the KG and Prep were eligible to participate. DPS, Mathura Road, batting first, were shot out for 178 while R K Puram replied with 179 for 4 to win the title. Scores: DPS, Mathura Road: 178 (Bharat Khurana 55 off 45 balls, Raman Chandana 32 off 57b, Anuj Prasad 2 for 21, Manish 2 for 19). DPS, R K Puram: 179 for 4 (Manish Lakra 60 off 54b, Divakar Jha 23 off 12b, Arjun Suri 16 off 8b, Bharat Khurana 2 for 27). In the tiny-tots tournament, Dwarka defeated Vasant Kunj, East of Kailash defeated Rohini and Vasant Vihar defeated DPS International in the preliminary rounds.

In the first semi-final Dwarka defeated East of Kailash while Vasant Vihar beat Noida in the second semi-final. In the final, Dwarka beat Vasant Vihar.

ONGC storm into Mohan cricket final

New Delhi, October 12
Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) defeated Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) by 25 runs to enter the final of the N N Mohan Memorial All-India Cricket Tournament at the Mohan Meakins ground at Ghaziabad. ONGC will take on Indian Airlines in the title clash on October 14 (Monday) at 9.30 am.

ONGC won the toss and elected to bat. They made 203 all out and then shot out SAIL for 176 in 42.2 overs. Radhey Shyam Gupta played the sheet-anchor role for ONGC with a dashing knock of 67 with seven fours. Radhey Shyam was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: ONGC: 203 all out in 44.2 overs (Radhey Shyam Gupta 67, 7x4; Gautam Gambhir 37, Gagan Khoda 24, Oniel Wilson 3 for 35, Sumit Dogra 3 for 38).SAIL: 178 all out in 42.3 overs (Saurabh Shukla 52, K P Bhaskar 47, Ajeet Singh 30, Sanjay Gill 2 for 26, Amit Sharma 2 for 38, Rahul Sanghvi 2 for 42).

Kuldeep shines

Deadly bowling by Delhi skipper and medium-pace bowler Kuldeep Rawat, who claimed five wickets for 40 runs, enabled Delhi restrict Haryana to 215 in their first innings on the opening day of the three-day Cooch-Behar Trophy Under-19 Cricket Tournament at the Vaish College ground, Rohtak on Saturday.

Scores: Haryana (first innings): 215 all out (Pardeep Sahu 63, Sabi Kukreja 29, Sunny 22, Mandeep 18, Vikram Dhariwal 17, Sachin Rana 12, Kuldeep Rawat 5 for 40, Kunal Lal 2 for 40, Abhishek Sharma 2 for 39). Haryana were 112 for 4 off 44 overs at lunch and 182 for 7 off 76 overs at tea.

SDC Academy win

A fine all-round performance by Satender Yadav (61 and 2 for 28) and deadly bowling by Rajender Madan (3 for 21)

helped Sumit Dogra Cricket Academy beat Shalimar Club by 39 runs and entered the final of the 12th Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Hamdard ground.

Scores: Sumit Dogra Academy: 230 for 9 in 35 overs (Satender Yadav 61, Manu Kumar 57, Rajender Bisth 2 for 35). Shalimar Club: 191 all out in 29.1 overs (Ravinder Bhandari 60, Sanjay Rawat 31, Rajender Madan 3 for 21, Satender Yadav 2 for 25, Manu Kumar 2 for 28).

Jasjeet emerges joint leader

New Delhi, October 12
India No 7 Jasjeet Singh overcame a three-stroke deficit to tie with Keshav Misra to emerge the joint leader at the end of the third day of the Indian Golf Union-categorised Jaypee Open Amateur Golf Tournament at the Jaypee Greens golf resort in Noida.

Jasjeet, employed with Gas Authority of India Ltd, did no wrong as he caught up with overnight leader Misra. He shot birdies on holes 11 and 15 to return with a level par card. Keshav was disappointed with his putting. He shot a birdie on hole 16, but bogied on holes 5,8.14 and 18.

Vikrant Chopra was placed second with a total score of 222. He ended the third day with three over 75. He shot birdies on holes 12,13 and 18 and made bogies on holes 1,2,5,8,9 and 14. OSR
