Role of education in shaping behaviour stressed

“Individual differences in behaviour have always been there. The more we know about individual differences, the better it would be to work towards evolving a strategy for its management. Psychologists have a key role to play in this regard.”

This was stated by Prof C. L. Kundu, eminent educational psychologist and former Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, who was the chief guest of the inaugural session of the two-day national seminar on ‘Individual Differences and Behaviour’ being organised by the Psychology Department of Maharshi Dayanand University here, on Friday. Prof Kundu said we lived under stressful and tense conditions and in polluted environment. Individual behaviour got affected due to these factors, as also on account of variations in individual capacities, attitudinal disposition and varying psychological dimensions. Prof Kundu emphasised the role of education in changing and shaping behaviour.

Bhuppi graces Alee awards presentation

Alee Club held its annual award function ‘Alee Awards – 2002’ at a very colourful cultural evening here. The programme was anchored by Priyanka, Mandhavi and Jatin. It started with pop singer Bhuppi, the DCP, Dr P. S. Bhushan, president of the club Harish Chandra and patron Wg Cdr H. M. Sethi lighting the lamp.

After a beautiful rendition of Saraswati Vandana by Bharatanatyam dancer Bhagya Lakshmi Tyagrajan, brilliant dance sequences were performed by students of Apeejay School and Abhiruchi.

Wg Cdr H. M. Sethi addressed spoke about the achievements of the club on the occasion. Pop singer Bhuppi appreciated the club’s efforts in spreading awareness among young generation about dreaded diseases like HIV/AIDS.

Following were the awardees: Ms Isha Baugh - young sitarist student of Modern School, Vasant Vihar, and resident of Paschim Vihar; Ms Daljeet Kaur – managing director of DK’s Academy of Skin, Hair and Beauty and resident of Shalimar Bagh; Mr Harish Sethi - industrialist and resident of Model Town, Ms Sambita Bose - choreographer and resident of Pitampura; Ms Madhu Wadhwa - dance exponent and resident of Greater Kailash, Mr Sanjay Malik - music director and resident of Ramesh Nagar; and Mr Sanjeev Dutta, managing director of Indter Card and resident of Green Park.
