Rocket launcher, drugs seized
Rameswaram, September 22
In a swift action, the police seized narcotics worth Rs 2 crore, including brown sugar and morphine, besides a rocket launcher and a large quantity of AK 47 bullets, from a hardware shop here today. The police said it raided the shop following a tip-off and arrested its owner M.K. Sikamani, also the district leader of a Dravidian organisation, along with two others. PTI

4 Naxals killed
Warangal (AP), September 22
Four Naxalites of the outlawed People’s War Group (PWG) were killed in a police encounter at Kullabudaram village in Bhupalpalli mandal, about 120 km from here, this morning. The slain Naxals belonged to the Janashakti Rajanna faction, the police said. PTI

3 ultras nabbed
Imphal, September 22
Three Kuki militants were arrested by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from Churachandpur last night, Deputy Inspector-General of Police P.K. Mishra said here today. The BSF patrol party recovered two weapons, along with some ammunition, from the Kuki National Democratic Front militants. UNI

10 immigrants drown
Palerno, (Sicily) September 22
At least 10 illegal immigrants died today as they attempted to swim ashore in rough seas to Sicily, exactly one week after almost 40 Africans drowned in a vain bid to reach Italy. The police said the bodies of the 10 immigrants were found on a beach close to Ragusa, in the southeast of the island, after some 50 immigrants were unloaded from a ship off the Sicilian coast.
