FCI rain goals on Railway Board

New Delhi, August 20
Food Corporation of India (FCI), North Zone went on a merciless goal-hunt to trounce Railway Board 8-1 in the Delhi State Hockey League for Institutions at the Shivaji Stadium in the Capital. FCI led by 5-1 at the breather.

Amar Singh Negi started FCI’s goal-glut in the fifth minute. Vipul scored the second goal in the 10th minute.

Five minutes later, S Sharma pulled on back for Railway Board to make the contest rather close (1-2). But FCI quickly got back into their scoring mode as Amar Singh, Vipul Navbir Singh, and again Vipul, and Ravinder struck in that order to complete the tally.

In the second match, Customs and Excise beat State Bank of India (Delhi) by a lone first-half goal, scored by Ajay Chetri in the 15th minute.

In the third match, Indian Airlines (Recreation Club) beat Delhi Audit 2-1. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time. Delhi Audit forged ahead when Sanjiv Sharma scored a goal in the 10th minute. Virinder Singh equalised for Indian Airlines in the 15th minute. Ravinder struck the match-winner in the 35th minute.

Indian Airlines inflicted a 6-2 drubbing on Delhi Police on Monday. Indian Airlines led by three goals to one at half time. Virinder Singh scored the first goal for Airlines in the fifth minute. Jeevan Mukul equalised for Delhi Police.

In another match, Delhi Vidyut Board beat Delhi Audit 2-0. Devinder scored the first goal in the first half while S Katosh got the second goal on resumption.

In the third match, the State Bank of India beat Railway Board 3-1. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time. RS Negi opened the scoring for the State Bank. Somesh equalised for Railway Board. Deepal got the second goal for the Bank while Sikhdev Singh complete the SBI’s tally when he converted a penalty corner.

Sahara Enterprises win

Sahara Enterprises defeated More Pen by six wickets and entered the final of the cup clash in the first Turf Sports Management Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament played at the Modern School ground.

In the second semi-final, JASSEL Ranganathan Associates (JRA) beat Modern School Staff by six wickets. For the plate event, Hamdard XI beat Pepsi Foods Ltd by five wickets to sail into the final. Also in a plate tie, GE Capital beat Delhi Sports Journalists Association (DSJA) and entered the final.

Scores: More Pen: 52 for 5 in 5 overs (Sanjay Kumar 26). Sahara Enterprises: 53 for no wicket in 3.3 overs (Paulyasta Sachdev 29 n o, Gaurav Uppal 21 n o).

Modern School Staff: 46 for 3 in 5 overs (Bhim Singh 28 n o, D Ranganathan 2 for 10). JRA: 47 for no loss in 4 overs (D Ranganathan 21 n o). Pepsi Foods Ltd: 52 for 1 in 5 overs (Rajeev Kumar 22 n o). Hamdard XI: 53 for 1 in 4 overs (Ramesh Kancha 32 n o, Majeed Khar 21 n o). DSJA: 28 all out in 3.5 overs (Joginder Singh 2 for 4). G E Capital: 29 for no loss in 3 overs (Joginder Singh 18 n o).

More Pen beat Pepsi Foods by 24 runs. Scores: More Pen: 65 for 1 in 5 overs (Ajay Choudhary 36 n o). Pepsi Foods: 41 for 2 in 5 overs (Kulbir Singh 24 n o). Modern School Staff beat DSJA by 21 runs. Scores: Modern School Staff: 71 for 3 in 5 overs (Abhishek Kapoor 32 n o, Sandeep Kumar 28 n o). DSJA: 50 for 4 in 5 overs (Jasvinder Singh 20, Sandeep Kumar 2 for 7). JRA beat Hamdard by 24 runs. Scores: JRA: 66 for 2 in 5 overs (Sriram 28 n o, Hamdard: 42 for 3 in 5 overs. Sahara Enterprises (65 for 1 in 4 overs: Paulatysa Suchdava 31 n o, Shubhneet Kohli 22 no) beat G E Capitals (61 for 3 in 5 overs: Rodney Charles 26, Paulatysta Suchdava 2 for 5).
