Ranga's Toon Tales

King Gyanendra

"YOU have made me look a little fat," said King Gyanendra of Nepal when this sketch of his was presented to him for his signature. Except for this remark he appeared pleased to see a sketch of himself and affixed his signature over the picture with a pleasant smile.

King Gyanendra, successor to his brother King Birendra, who was assassinated along with his family a year ago, was in Delhi on a state visit. He had extensive talks with the President and the Prime Minister and discussed various issues involving terrorism and the Maoist insurgency with them. During his short stay in Delhi he visited a number of places. He also paid a visit to Kamakshi Temple, where he met the Kanchi Sankaracharya and had a long talk with the seer on matters relating to religion and politics.
