Indian rider qualifies for world show jumping
final New Delhi, July 26 The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has divided the world into ten geographical zones. India, along with countries of South and South East Asia fall in one zone. FEI holds the show jumping competition across the world, in all member countries, which is judged by the international jury. Based on the scores obtained, two best riders from each zone are nominated to participate in the World Show Jumping Challenge final every year. This is the first time that any Indian rider has qualified for the final. The credit for this goes to EFI, which has consistently worked to improve the equestrian standards in the country and to the rider who has worked hard to enhance his show jumping capabilities and the tricks. EFI also has taken big initiatives in improving the very equestrian standards and unit of the country. |

Ravindera Public School: 144 all out in 24.5 overs (Tushar Alekar 43, Sawej Khan 22, Hemant Singh 21, Narender Singh 3 for 19, Simranjeet Singh 3 for 24). Ravindera Public School had beaten Blue Star Club by a mammoth score of 227 runs in their earlier match. A 173-run opening-wicket partnership between left-hand batsman Gurpreet Singh (63) and Hemant Singh (89) laid the foundation of a big total by Ravindera Public School. Rs 53-crore plan to develop Garh
Ganga Ghaziabad, July 26 A Rs 53-crore plan has, therefore, been readied to develop the Garh Ganga area as a holy-city-cum-tourist city on the banks of the Ganga like Hardwar, now in Uttaranchal. A proposal to this effect is learnt to have been submitted by the state government to the Centre for approval. At a meeting of tourism board officers of western UP, the state Director-General of Tourism, Mr Karnail Singh, stressed that the state government was keen to develop tourist spots on Delhi National highway which goes via Jim Corbett Park also. The Divisional Commissioner, Mr Pradeep Bhatnagar, was asked to put up a proposal based on this decision of the state government. Mr Bhatnagar on his part stressed the need for developing the Tigri area on the banks of the Ganga as a tourism-cum-pilgrimage centre. Mr Karnail Singh said a proposal for Rs 53 crore for the development of Garh Mukteshwar had already been sent to the Centre for its approval. Garh will be developed as a modern township as well as a pilgrimage centre. Mr Karnail Singh said as enough land was available in Moradabad division, the state government was keen to utilise it for the development of the Tigri area as a tourism belt. Gujraula on the highway could also be included in the area to be developed for tourism. The Director-General, Tourism, stressed the need for making special provision for the development of the Tigri area on the pattern of the Brij Ghat Development Authority. |
