Sanitation drive gains momentum

Ludhiana, July 26
Under the ongoing sanitation drive, from July 15 to August 31 in preparation for the rainy season under the overall supervision of the respective Zonal Commissioners in the city, Mr O.A.K. Sondhi, Zonal Commissioner, Zone A, led a sanitation campaign in Kila Mohalla locality, in ward No 63 here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sondhi made a fervent appeal to the shopkeepers and area residents not to throw garbage and filth on roads and streets and to make use of dustbins and garbage containers. He sought the cooperation of the people to keep their surroundings clean, particularly during the rainy season when threat of many an epidemic diseases loomed large over the heads of the residents. He further said that no additional staff would be deployed in the zone for the sanitation campaign. “The safai workers will work in their designated places in the morning and take part in the special sanitation campaign in the afternoon,” he said.

The staff of the circle no 14 of the sanitation wing, headed by the Zonal Chief Sanitary Inspector, Mr Ashwani Sahota, cleaned various main markets and distributed pamphlets on sanitation and public health among the participants. Prominent among others present on the occasion were — Mr Satnam Ahuja, Mr Pawan Kumar, Sanitary Inspector and representatives of the mohalla sanitation committees and shopkeepers associations of the locality.
