MiG 21 crashes, pilot bails out
Kolkata, July 15
An Indian Air Force MiG 21 crashed at Phansidewa in Darjeeling district this afternoon. Mr Narayan Ghosh, DIG (Headquarters) said the pilot and a trainee, however, bailed out successfully. The aircraft, which had taken off from the Bagdogra airport, developed a technical snag and caught fire. It later crashed into a pond. Civilian injuries, if any, could not be ascertained, he added. 50 killed in Nepal landslide
Kathmandu, July 15
A landslide swept through two mountain villages, killing at least 50 persons early today, independent Kantipur Radio reported. The landslide swept through Dipsung and Sikundel villages in Khotang district, about 200 km east of the capital, the report said. AP
