Online education centre inaugurated

Ludhiana, July 6
Browser Broadband, an online education centre fully backed by v-satellite system, was inaugurated at Tagore Nagar here today.

Mr Sukhbir Singh Dhaliwal, director of the institution, said over 100 courses related to networking, software engineering and those in MCSE were available for students. The students could apply for the courses through the centres, get passwords and attend classes from home. He said the students would be supplied low-price, high-speed packages of Internet when they applied for the course. In case, students came to the centre for attending classes, they would get an added advantage of using v-satellite system that ensures even more speed and uninterrupted access.

Mr Dhaliwal said the duration of the courses would vary from three months to one year. Students would be required to spend on an average 20 hours per month online for different courses. Besides, he said, a cyber cafe with 14 computer systems had also been inaugurated for the Net users.

LRDAV College students shine

Students of LRDAV College here have done well in BA I, II, and III examinations conducted by Panjab University this year. Twentythree students scored first division in BA I and the pass percentage in the class was 72. The first position in the college was bagged by Savita Garg, who secured 635 marks out of 800. Shivani Singla and Nidhi Katyal with 631 and 599 marks got the second and third positions respectively.

Twentysix students scored first division in BA II and the pass percentage in the class was 94. Shivani Puri topped the college, securing 1198 marks out of 1600. The second and third positions went to Manisha Jain and Gagandeep, who obtained 1146 and 1137 marks, respectively. Students of BA final fared well with 45 students getting the first division. Jaspreet Kaur stood first in the college, obtaining 1787 marks out of 2400. Sarika Sharma was second with 1762 marks and Shakti Garg third with 1741 marks. The pass percentage of students in BA final was 96.
