The Punjab Agricultural University conducted the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to BSc (agriculture) and Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry here today.
As many as 1818 candidates appeared for the three-hour test that was held in 10 centres set up at Government Model Senior Secondary School on the PAU campus, examination hall and lecture rooms in the Colleges of Agriculture, Home Science and Veterinary Sciences (BVSc). Tents were put up and drinking water arrangements were made for the convenience of parents and guardians accompanying the candidates.
Giving details, Dr S.S. Chahal, Controller of Examination, said that out of the total candidates who had applied, 1,192 were boys. He said that the result for 68 seats for four-year BSc (agriculture) programme and 40 for the five-year BVSc programme would be declared on June 29 evaluation for which would begin on June 27.
Dr Chahal said that the criteria for selection would be minimum 50 per cent marks in the test for general category applicants of BVSc and 40 per cent for reserved category applicants. Similarly, he said that the general category candidates of BSc (agriculture) needed to score at least 40 per cent marks while those from reserved category other than SC, ST and sports quota should obtain minimum 35 per cent marks. Minimum qualifying percentage to BSc (agriculture) for sports category candidates would be 15 per cent and for those applying from SC and ST category, there would be no minimum qualification. Counselling of all successful candidates would be held on July 16, said Dr Chahal.
