Pakistan bans foreign funding of madarsaas
Islamabad, June 20

The government has approved a decree that entitles madarsaas (seminaries) to official aid only if they impart modern education along with religious teaching.

Centre to consider Hurriyat offer

The Centre today reacted positively to Hurriyat Conference’s offer to go to Pakistan occupied Kashmir to broker a ceasfire between the militant leadership and security forces, saying that it, was “good and will be considered”.

India and Spain today signed an extradition treaty and an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters to significantly strengthen bilateral cooperation in law enforcement and fight against global terrorism.

FCI employees go on strike

Even as Mr V.K. Singh, Senior Regional Manager, FCI, Punjab region, today rushed to Delhi to personally explain the situation arising out of the export category rice diversion scam, which came to light in the city on June 18, to the higher authorities, dealing with exports, at the FCI head office, the operations pertaining to acceptance and storage of rice from the millers have come to a halt in Mansa and this district as FCI employees have started an agitation in protest against the alleged police high-handedness.
