Spurious liquor claims 5 lives
Raipur, June 19
At least five villagers died and 16 others were taken ill after consuming spurious liquor in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, the police said today. Two villagers died yesterday while three lost their lives today after consuming the spurious liquor made of rice in Sarai Bhadra village, 8 km from Raigarh, District Police Superintendent Pawan Dev said.

An earthquake of slight intensity rocked Haryana today. The Indian Meteorological Department said the intensity of the earthquake, which was felt at 3.40 p.m, was 3.3 on the Richter scale.

Naseem Banu dead
Mumbai, June 18
Naseem Banu, Hindi cinema’s beauty queen of yesteryears died of old age tonight at her Pali Hill residence, family sources said. She was 86. Mother of actress Saira Banu, Naseem starred in several popular movies like Sohrab Modi’s ‘Pukar’, Mehboob Khan’s ‘Nagma’ and ‘Sindbad’.

Haq succeeds Sattar

Pakistan Foreign Secretary Inamul Haq was today appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in place of Mr Abdus Sattar. Mr Sattar had resigned as Foreign Minister last month on health grounds, Information Minister Nisar A Memon told a press conference here.
