Mortuary to come up at GGS hospital
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, June 11
A mortuary is expected to come up at Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in West Delhi. Finding it difficult to cope with having to perform close to 10 thousand post-mortem examinations a year, the Government of NCT of Delhi is augmenting the infrastructure in the seven mortuaries functioning out of hospitals administered by it and five others by the Government of India and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Issues relating to upgradation of equipment, making available extra cabinets and additional staff came up for discussion in Tuesday’s meeting chaired by Health Minister A. K. Walia. “More cabinets will be made available in the mortuaries at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, LNJP and DDU,” the minister told mediapersons.

The Government of NCT of Delhi administers seven mortuaries at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, LBS, Sanjay Gandhi, MAMC, DDU, GTB and Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital. The Centre runs three mortuaries at AIIMS, Safdarjung and Lady Harding and MCD one, at Hindu Rao Hospital.

GTB Hospital conducts the maximum number of post-mortem examinations (1,104) followed by DDU (1,061) and Safdarjung (1,000.)

Radhey Shyam hits century in ONGC’s win
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, June 11
Delhi Ranji Trophy player Radhey Shyam Gupta slammed a swashbuckling century to star in Oil and Natural Gas Commission’s 69 runs victory against Delhi Police to move into the quarter-final of the sixth Lala Hari Ram Aggarwal Memorial Day-Night Cricket Tournament, sponsored by Padam Cables, at the Karnail Singh Stadium in the Capital.

Put into bat, ONGC totalled 205 for the loss of just three wickets in 30 overs, thanks to the blistering knock of Radhey Shyam Gupta and an unbeaten 86 by India player Gagan Khoda. But ONGC were in a precarious position of 13 for two at one stage when they lost the wickets of Sandeep Sharma bowled by Prem Veer for four and Mithun Minhas bowled by Sune Singh for nought.

But Radhey Shyam and Gagan Khoda then launched a merciless assault on the Delhi Police bowlers to put on 192 runs for the third wicket to help ONGC recover. In reply, Delhi Police could make only 136 in 22.4 overs as off-spinner Amit Sharma (4 for 38) and medium-pacer Feroz Gyas (3 for 27) scythed through their batting lineup.

Radhey Shyam was declared the BDM man of the match. Gagan Khoda got the best batsman award while the best bowler honour went to Amit Sharma.

Scores: ONGC: 205 for 3 in 30 overs (Radhey Shyam Gupta 101, 88b, 11x4, 2x6; Gagan Khoda 86 n o, 87b, 8x4, 2x6; Rajesh Tyagi 1 for 15).
