Star Sports to beam live FI Grand Prix
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, May 23
The Formula One race will return to the track in Monaco this week after being in turmoil for the past two weeks, and Star Sports will beam live the action from the Mediterranean principality on May 26 at 5.15 pm. The Austrian Grand Prix had raised a storm around the sporting world when Ferrari ordered race leader Rubens Barrichello to make way for second-placed Michael Schumacher to pass him just before the finish line.

Ferrari team director Jean Todt claimed the move as being within the rules and in line with Ferrari’s desire to have Schumacher win a third straight driver’s title and fifth overall, which would tie the German with Juan Manuel Fangio overall. But fans at the track registered their displeasure with the move, booing and giving the thumbs down sign during the podium presentation. Schumacher acknowledged his team mate’s moral victory, however, by insisting he take the high step on the podium and spraying Barrichello with the celebratory champagne. Ironically, that gesture by Schumacher could be the one that the authorities use to punish Ferrari because it violates the rules.
