Clinics doing MTP to be registered

Ludhiana, May 13
The Civil Surgeon, Dr J.S. Bhullar, has asked the nursing homes, clinics and hospitals performing medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) to get themselves registered under the MTP Act 1971.

Dr Bhullar, in a statement today said that form A (for registration) was available at the office of the Civil Surgeon, and same should be submitted at the office for approval. For the final approval of registration, the forms would be sent to the office of Director, Health Services.

The Civil Surgeon also said that the doctor (medical officer) doing MTP should be well qualified and proper record should be maintained.

4.46 lakh kids get polio drops

Ludhiana, May 13
Over 4,46,000 children, below the age of five years, were administered polio drops in the district during the five-day polio mop-up campaign which concluded here on May 11.

Dr J.S.Bhullar, Civil Surgeon, said today that there was no need to organise another polio mop-up campaign in the district as almost all the children below the age of five years were given drops during the campaign.

Dr Kuldip Kaur Sahni, District Vaccination Officer, said, “The department is not satisfied in one or two areas because of less manpower, but we will be covering these areas within the next two days.”

Dr Bhullar said that NGOs and administration had provided all the necessary help to the department.
