Indian, Pak troops exchange fire
Jammu, May 12
Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy firing at 14 border outposts (BoPs) along the international boundary (IB) in the Jammu and Kathua districts overnight. The police said the troops exchanged fire in the R.S. Pura, Akhnoor and Hiranagar sectors of the Jammu region. UNI

Violence in Bhiwandi
Bhiwandi, May 12
Incidents of stone throwing, attack on a polling booth and detention of an independent candidate on charges of firing in the air in self-defence marred the first civic election to the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation here in Thane district of Maharashtra today. Stone throwing incidents were reported from the Gokulnagar, Bilal Masjid area, Kamatghar and Jaitunpura and Rameshwar Mandir area, an official release said. PTI

10 feared dead
Moscow, May 12
At least 10 persons were killed today when a roof collapsed at Russia’s Baikonur space cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, Russian ORT television reported, though other media reports said the victims could still be alive under the debris. Three sections of a roof at the cosmodrome, collapsed from a height of around 70 to 100 metres at approximately 12.50 p.m. IST. AFP
