‘CRSA ignoring interests of city skaters’ Chandigarh, May 8 When asked about the objections raised by the CRSA secretary, Mr Jagpal Singh, who the other day had criticised the RSFI president’s way of functioning, Mr Ganeriwal said discipline was foremost in their federation. But he said just ask them (CRSA), why during the past 30 years, the CRSA could not come forward to host even a single national meet. In the year 1999, the RSFI had asked the local association to host nationals, but the association refused. Then RSFI had to host the same since players’ interest was to be watched first, he said. He said the CRSA secretary’s allegation that in the election meeting of the RSFI held on May 10, 2000, every decision was taken arbitrarily by the president, was totally false. He said Mr Jagpal Singh was present in that meeting and had even seconded the nomination of Mr T.C. Gupta as the vice-president of the RSFI. Ganeriwal also showed a letter written by coach of the Indian team, Harpreet Singh, where he had alleged that he was not a member of the CRSA and his name was misused by the CRSA on their official letterhead. Harpreet had alleged that he was the coach of the national roller hockey team since 1997 and he felt hurt at various careless decision taken by the CRSA which was working against the interests of the players. Harpreet had also mentioned in his letter that the decision to expel nine roller hockey players of Chandigarh by the CRSA for the next three years was unfortunate. Ganeriwal appreciated the facilities provided by KB DAV Centenary School, Sector 7, and the initiative taken by the school Principal, Ms Madhu Bahl, for the cause of skating. He said it was nice that now Chandigarh had a world-class skating rink in the above school where they could even think of hosting world cup meets. He told the national campers that they were lucky to have coaching from world renowned roller hockey coach Baraldi Aldo who would be giving them finer tips of the game for another two weeks. Ganeriwal also announced that speed track of 200 m would soon be laid on the KB DAV School campus and then international meets in speed events could be held there.
