9 die in Russian blast
Moscow, April 28
Nine persons were killed and 36 others injured when a bomb exploded today in the central market of Vladikavkaz, capital of the Russian republic of North Ossetia, which borders Chechnya, Interfax quoted the Emergencies Ministry as saying. AFP

Emergency landing
Tehran, April 28
A Pakistani passenger plane carrying 400 persons made an emergency landing at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport today after one of its engines caught fire, an aviation official reported. The Boeing 747, en route from Karachi to Ankara, landed safely after the incident over Kerman province, central Iran, the official said. AFP
