Principal ‘took money’ for attesting documents
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, April 27
The Delhi High Court today asked for the production of originals from a petitioner who has alleged that the principal of Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, Vikaspuri, had attested photographs and documents after taking money.

A division bench, comprising Justices Devinder Gupta and Shameet Mukerjee, asked the petitioner to produce by May 17, the next date of hearing, the photographs or documents claimed to be attested by the principal.

The Samdrishti People Care Foundation alleged that the principal had charged Rs 100 for each attestation and did not even bother to verify the material after the “consideration” was paid for the work.

However, the Delhi Government said that an inquiry by the Education Department had found that the principal had lost the ‘stamp’ used for attestation and somebody else did the “job”.

The petitioner countered by saying that this was a move to protect the principal as no First Information Report had been lodged for the lost stamp.
