Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, April 18
Demanding regular disbursement of salaries by the Punjab Government, the Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) held a dharna outside the Mini-Secretariat here today.

The teachers said there was irregularity in the payment of their salaries. They said that at times they are not paid salaries for months. They said that this time, too, they had not yet received salary for March. They demanded from the Punjab Government that a proper payment channel should be ensured to help them receive salary on time.

The teachers also demanded that pending cases of confirmation of the teaching and non-teaching staff and the ACP be cleared as soon as possible. They said that a case of fraud worth Rs 4 lakh detected against employees of Pakhowal block be investigated at the earliest and those found guilty be punished.

During the dharna, Mr Bhajan Singh, district president, and Mr Joginder Azad, district secretary, also demanded that investigations be ordered into the working of Ms Usha Sidhu, District Education Officer, now posted at Patiala, and Mr Inderjit, a stenographer in the department.
