Liquor-vend auction fetches 206 cr

Liquor shops in the district, put to auction for the next financial year at Lions Bhavan, here today, yielded a staggering Rs 206.70 crore as against Rs 193.05 crore for this year. 

Pavement construction begins

12 quintals of poppy husk seized

In a major breakthrough against drug peddlers, a joint action by the Shimla Puri police, CIA and some teams from other police stations helped nab six smugglers, three of them brothers, from Gill Canal last night and seized over 12 quintals of poppy husk from their possession.

A brush with colours of spiritual peace

Amrita after displaying her Thangkha’s paintings in Italy, Germany and other European countries has brought her collections for Ludhianvis. Ludhiana, March 15 Members of the Ramgarhia Club celebrated Holi at Malhotra Mahal, Dugri here today. The members were specially dressed for the occasion. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the club members. The members danced on various Hindi film songs. Rano Padam, Parvinder Kalsi and Paramjit Manku danced on the ‘Silsila’ number ‘Rang barse’. Blood bank inaugurated

Ludhiana, March 15 A Rotary Blood Bank was inaugurated at Shri Krishna Charitable Hospital today by Rotarian Harminder Singh. Over Rs 25 lakh have been spent on the equipment and construction of the blood bank. The recently constructed Blood Bank building was inaugurated at Krishna Charitable Hospital by Mr Harnam Das Johar in Ludhiana on Friday. —IV
