‘No colour lights on number plates’
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, March 12
In its latest drive, the Delhi Traffic Police have advised all car owners to remove additional colour lights on the front and rear number plates, terming them “potential hazards” that can result in accidents. The “advice” comes after a large number of private vehicles were using additional blue or red coloured glowing bulbs on the front and rear number plates. These bulbs are either of LED (Light Emission Diode) or other high intensity fancy ones, which emit bright colour lights on the number plates of vehicles and cause distraction in the visibility of number plates. “Motorists are further requested to adhere to traffic rules and regulations in their own interest and to make Delhi roads safer for all concerned,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Mr Sanjay Singh. The traffic police have already started prosecuting violators.
