Dismantle Punjab Medical Council: PCMSA
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, March 11
The PCMS Association, Punjab, has welcomed the gesture of new Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, to provide a neat and efficient governance in the state. The association also demanded to dismantle the unconstitutionally formed ‘Punjab Medical Council’ by the previous state government.

Dr Hardeep Singh, state president and Dr Surinder Singla, general secretary, in a press note issued here said that the previous Punjab Government had framed ‘Punjab Medical Council’ in last moments of their tenure. They alleged that it was formed hurriedly and unconstitutionally, a few days before the declaration of Punjab Assembly elections. All members were nominated, ignoring all rules and regulations and were personal favourites of former Medical Education Minister, it alleged.

The members immediately demanded to dismantle this council and form a new body with due representation from the PCMS Association and other bodies of doctors.

The president said that the association members would soon meet the new Chief Minister to submit a memorandum regarding other demands of PCMS doctors and issues of the Health Department.
