Schools to have potable water

All government schools in the district are likely to have drinking water and toilet facilities by March 31 next.

The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Arun Kumar, said here today that efforts were on to provide separate toilets for boys and girls in all the schools, besides potable water supply. He said while about 21 schools had been provided with such a facility, an amount of Rs 32.40 lakh was being spent in about 162 schools of middle, high and senior secondary levels. He said of about 500 primary schools, 183 schools have been provided with the facility so far. He said the district education officer and block education officials had been directed to furnish development report in this connection.

Penalty for siring more kids: The Deputy Commissioner has removed Sarpanch of Kishorpur village, Mr Devender Singh from his post for having more than two children. He is the third sarpanch to lose his post on this ground in the district in the past one month.

Booked for power theft: Six persons have been booked at nearby villages in connection with power theft. It is reported that the accused identified as Mukesh of Garoda, Kaleran Gopal and Devender of Jassana village and Ashwaine and lekha of Bhagat Singh Colony here had been allegedly drawing power directly from the line through kundi connections.

Meanwhile, an armyman Chanderpal was killed and his wife injured seriously in a road mishap near Palwal town on Sunday. The victim was on a scooter with his wife when a heavy vehicle hit it.
