40 Haj pilgrims killed

Forty pilgrims travelling by bus from the United Arab Emirates to Mecca for the annual Haj pilgrimage were killed today in a road accident in eastern Saudi Arabia, the official SPA news agency reported.

The dead included 37 Pakistanis, one Saudi, one Egyptian and one Syrian. AFP
