Ludhiana, February 13 The play is based on a real life story. In this play, Ratan Lal Johri’s mother refuses to migrate to India after the Partition and decides to stay back in Lahore. When she dies the people of the area decide to bury her. But a Maulvi passing that way. He tells them that the woman should be buried according to her religion and proper religious rites should be performed. This play was first staged 12 years ago, but the play has not lost in its popularity. The play will have two shows, one at 11 am and other at 6 pm at Guru Nanak Bhavan. The two shows will be held so that a large number of students benefit by watching this master piece. The next programmes will be held by renowned santoor maestro Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, who has been instrumental in popularising santoor. He has delighted thousands of people by his wonderful rhythm. The programme is scheduled for February 26. Pratibha Prahalad will give a bharatnatyam performance on February 28. Sarod recital by young and upcoming duo Amaan and Ayaan, sons of famous sarod player Amjad Ali Khan is the next programme on the agenda. The venue will be notified later. The programmes will continue till March, then due to examinations, the programmes will be deferred till August The Ludhiana chapter had started the silver jubilee function celebrations with a bang by inviting some famous persons, including folk singer Gurmeet Bawa, Debu Chaudhry, (sitar recital), Kiran Segal (Odissi dance)and Sharif Iddu Dade (Punjabi Sufi songs). The SPIC MACAY, in an attempt at linear growth, has adopted the policy of decentralisation and due to this policy for the first time the students in small towns like Khanna, Mukundpur, Nawanshahr, Gursar Sudhar had a chance to see the artistes perform. |
