Sinha, and the Assistant Commissioner, Mr H.S. Brar, said for 2,140 polling booths in 10 constituencies of the district there were 2,400 EVMs. On an average there is one EVM for a single booth. However, in case the number of contesting candidates is more, there can be two EVMs.

Demonstrating the EVMs, they said all care had been taken that there was no tampering with the machines. “In fact, the machines have been developed like that and these would be operated in the presence of polling agents of all contesting candidates”, Mr Sandhu said.

In the 10 constituencies there are 19,24,993 voters. As many as 11,902 employees have been deployed for the duty. Mr Sandhu said the EVMs would be prepared from February 4 to 8 for the final use.
