Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Haryana and Punjab and at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amount of precipitation in cm. are: Haryana: Guhla 1, HimachalPradesh: Bhuntar 2 and Baijnath, Kangra, Rampur Bushahr and Sunibhajji 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Batote 3 and Katra 1 and Uttaranchal: Mukteshwar 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were largely above normal in Rajasthan, markedly above normal in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, appreciably above normal in Himachal Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and above normal in east Uttar Pradesh.

The lowest temperature in the plains was 10.7°C recorded at Sriganganagar (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 17: Rain or snow will occur at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in Punjab, north Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in south Rajasthan.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy to very heavy rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 17: Overcast sky with a few showers/thundershowers. Cold day. Gusty winds during day. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 17°C and 12°C, respectively.
