HSRP: Short
for Hot Standby Routing Protocol, a proprietary protocol from Cisco.
HSRP is a routing protocol that provides backup to a router in the
event of failure. Using HSRP, several routers are connected to the
same segment of an Ethernet, FDDI or token-ring network and work
together to present the appearance of a single virtual router on the
LAN.
FIX: Short for
the Financial Information Exchange protocol, a vendor-neutral
standardised message format for describing real-time security
transactions. FIX is a public-domain specification owned and
maintained by FIX Protocol, Ltd.
PXE: Short for Pre-Boot
Execution Environment. Pronounced pixie, PXE is one of the components
of Intel's WfM specification. It allows a workstation to boot from a
server on a network prior to booting the operating system on the local
hard drive.
