Sports festival begins

Ludhiana, January 5
The annual Gujjarwal Sports Festival organised by the Amarjit Grewal Club got off to a colourful start at Shree Guru Hargobind Sahib stadium at Gujjarwal village, about 25 km from here, yesterday. Matches in kabaddi, football apart from competitions in dog races and bullock cart races were held.

In kabaddi (65 kg), Babarpure beat Gujjarwal 22-8, while in football Dahehru outplayed Gujjarwal 5-0 and Guram defeated Dhanaula 3-0. In dog races (quarter finals) Sweety owned by Alam Ali of Malerkotla stood first, followed by Snowman of Sarabjeet Singh from Narangwal, Power of Sekhon brothers, Reeta Robin of Chowdhary Mohammad Habib, Niku of Bobby Bhullar from Ferozepore, Mauji of Harinder Singh from Dhandari Kalan and Track Ranger of Jagga Singh from Kila Raipur.
