For students it’s back to books and bags Chandigarh, January 3 Elated at meeting friends again and back to the routine of juggling between serious studies and enervating games in open grounds, it was business as usual in city schools. However, the reopening of schools also brought with it the looming fear of examinations which are drawing closer. Unit tests for junior classes and pre-boards of senior classes are slated for January-end and beginning of February in most schools. Giving hardly any breather in between examinations, final examinations will commence in March. With the annual functions and variety programmes over in December, studies have now occupied the centre-stage. Contrary to expectations, attendance in schools today was high in comparison to previous years which can easily be attributed to a clear and sunny day. With holidays practically over, as far as this academic session is concerned, schools managements have started bracing themselves for the forthcoming admission season, most of these are busy finalising the admission process and schedules. Meanwhile, annual day of the Mount View Public School, Baltana, was held at school today. A colourful cultural programme by the schoolchildren enthralled the audiences. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest, Capt Kanwaljit Singh, Punjab Finance Minister, appreciated the efforts of the school management toward raising the level of education in the area. Major Gurcharan Singh, Principal of the school, read out the school’s annual report and assured parents that school would continue to strive for imparting quality education to students. The minister later distributed prizes to children and award of honour to teachers. |
