9 cops
die in LeT suicide attack
Srinagar, September 17
At least nine police personnel were
killed and 10 others injured when a three-member suicide squad of the
Lashkar-e-Toiba attacked a camp of the Special Operations Group of the Jammu
and Kashmir Police at Handwara in Kupwara district last night. A militant
was also killed while two of his accomplices managed to escape after the
attack.

Octroi
abolition from Oct 1

The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr
Parkash Singh Badal, has given the green light to the Local Bodies
Department to abolish octroi from October 1, in the state. An
indication to this effect was given here today by the Local Bodies
Minister, Mr Balramji Dass Tandon.
