Our Correspondent

Panchkula, August 10
The Haryana government will make best possible efforts to provide desirable packages for farmers for their produce. For this the government has given a representation to the Prime Minister seeking hike in the minimum support price of paddy.

This was stated by Mr Om Prakash Chautala, Haryana Chief Minister, while addressing media persons after inaugurating two community centres and a civil dispensary in the township here today.

The CM commented that the country used to import a huge quantity of foodgrains from other countries but now the Indian farmer has become self-dependent. He revealed that at present 615 lakh metric tonnes of foodgrains have been stored in godowns. Mr Chautala said that the present government will complete its tenure. The rally organised by the Haryana Congress at Nuh was a flop show, he said.

To provide better health services to the people of the region, a new hospital with ultra-modern facilities would be set up in Panchkula with the aid of the Central Government, disclosed Mr Chautala.

Earlier, he inaugurated a community centre which came up at the cost of Rs 29 lakh in Sector 21, and another one in Sector 11 at the cost of the Rs 24 lakh. A civil dispensary in Sector 10 was also inaugurated.
