CMC to start trauma unit

Ludhiana, August 3
Christian Medical College and Hospital is all set to have a state-of-the-art emergency and trauma unit.

It is likely to become operational tomorrow.

The unit will be equipped with latest facilities to look after victims of accidents. The unit has been built at a cost of Rs 3 crore through donations made by the philanthropists of Ludhiana under the leadership of Mr Som Nath Maini, chairman advisory committee, Medical College and Hospital.

Dr J. Jacob addressing the press meet, said CMC has been a pioneer in imparting the Home Nursing Care which it started 107 years ago. It had been the first one to start a medical college for women, first to transplant a kidney and also the first to stitch a severed limb by using micro surgery, he said.

PAU scientists’ advice to dairy farmers

The veterinary experts of Punjab Agricultural University have advised the dairy farmers to take all necessary precautions to ensure normal calving of their animals .

The scientists have advised dairy farmers to separate the pregnant animals from the herd at least 15 days before the expected date of calving. In case, animals do not calve, the veterinary doctors should be contacted immediately.

The scientists have advised the farmers to take necessary precautions against skin infections due to flies, lice and ticks. To check these, spray 0.5 per cent carbaryl, 0.05 per cent asuntol, 0.02 per cent butox and 0.02 per cent of 12.5 per cent taktic on the animals as well as on the sheds, especially corners and crevices, and repeat the spray after 10-15 days, advised the scientists.

To check maggot wounds, surroundings should be kept clean and fly repelling ointments like Himax, Loxerane or Ectosep should be applied on the wounds, said the experts. They further said that animals should be protected from inclement weather and heat, alternate feed, like concentrate mixed with wheat straw or silage, should also be provided. Animals should be vaccinated against hemorrhagic septicemia (gal ghottu) immediately, they said.

The poultry farmers have been advised that the feed should contain 15 to 20 per cent more proteins, minerals, and vitamins. Sufficient cold water should be made available for the birds in the sheds, poultry farmers have been advised.

Alpine school win badminton trophy

Alpine International Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, prevailed over hosts Gobindgarh Public School 3-2 to clinch the title in the boy’s section of the Sahodya School Complex Badminton Championship which concluded at Mandi Gobindgarh today.

In the girls section, K V M Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana defeated Gobindgarh Public School 2-0 to lift the title. In the final (boys) Ramneek of Alpine International Senior Secondary School outplayed Navdeep 15-9,15-5. However, Suraj and Raj squandered away the advantage going down to Aditya and Aashish 9-15, 4-15.In the third match, Gurbax and Ramneek put Alpine School ahead again by beating Navdeep and Vinay 15-9,15-8.The fourth match between Gurbax and Aditya was a sea-saw battle in which the latter emerged triumphant 17-14, 15-5. In the fifth and deciding encounter, Raj Kumar of Alpine school pipped Vinay 15-12, 15-12 to help his school register victory and win the trophy.

In the girls final, K V M Senior Secondary School players Prerna and Anupriya gave a fine performance to enable their team to etch their school’s name on the trophy. In the first match, Prerna outwitted Nandita of Gobindgarh Public School 11-1,11-2 while in the second match, Prerna teamed with Anupriya to outclassed Reetika and Ranchika 15-7 and 15-6.

B C M School, Ludhiana, finished third in the boys section Convent School while the third spot in the girls section went to Green Land Public Senior Secondary School. They beat B C M School 2-1.

Cricket tournament

A fine batting display by Dushyant Kohli (32) and Charandeep (37 n.o) helped Sargodha National Public School, Ludhiana, to outplay Government High School, Jamalpur, by seven wickets and storm into the final of the Inter-High School Cricket Tournament here today.

Batting first, Government High School made 119 for 9 in the allotted 16 overs. Iqbal Singh and Talwinder contributed 29 and 28 runs respectively. For Sargodha School, Yogesh and Vishavpreet were the most successful bowlers claiming 4 and 2 wickets for 15 and 22 runs respectively. Sushyant and Vishal took one wicket each .

Sargodha National Public School achieved the target losing just three wickets in 15.1 overs. Dushayant Kohli and Charandeep made their team’s task easy by smashing 32 and 37 runs respectively. Harpreet scored 15 and Vishal remained not out on 14.

DIG warns cops

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr Suresh Arora, today said that all those police officials who had been promoted in the ORP category would be reverted back to their original post of the ASI in case any complaint was received against them.

The DIG, who was here today, said the suspended SHO of Samrala, Arvind Puri, would not be posted on any public dealing post. He also visited the place of the murder of Jaswinder Singh alias Gianai and recorded the statement of witnesses. A team consisting of the SP Operation, Ludhiana, Mr S.S. Sandhu, the Sub-Inspector, Mr Kamal Dev and the ASI, Mr Nachattar Singh also accompanied him.

Mr Arora said the inquiry would be completed at the earliest and he would also meet the persons belonging to the accused party after a few days. He asserted those responsible for the kidnapping and the murder of Aman Sood would not be spared. He has asked for a detailed report about the incident the SSP of Khanna, Mr R.N. Dhoke.

MC shifts 6 SDOs

The Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Dr S.S. Sandhu, has ordered the transfers of six Sub- Divisional Officers of the civic body with immediate effect.

Mr Surinder Mohindroo has been posted in the Park Cell. Mr Karamjit Singh goes from Park Cell to Sub Zone A1. Mr M.P. Singh will move from Sub Zone A1 to D1 and Mr Vinod Kumar would join Project Cell from sub-zone D1. Mr Ramesh Garg has been transferred from Traffic Cell to Zone B3. Mr Hakam Singh has been shifted from sub- zone B3 to Traffic Cell.
