DC’s orders not enforced
Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, July 26
While the administration may claim to solve umpteen number of complaints on the spot at weekly sanghat darshan programmes, several officials do not take the orders seriously. This is evident from a case, which came up for hearing on July 12.

The DC, Mr S .K. Sandhu, had ordered the Executive Engineer of the Punjab State Electricity Board, Raikote, to restore the electricity connection of a farmer within one week. But even after the lapse of two weeks the connection has not been restored.

Jarnail Singh, a farmer of Hardaspur village, in Barnala tehsil, was assured on July 12 that the connection to his tubewell would be restored within one week. Although Hardaspur falls in Sangrur district, it comes under Raikote division of the PSEB, hence the complaint was listed with the Ludhiana DC. The DC had issued clear instructions to the PSEB for the restoration of the connection within one week.

But the PSEB officials did not seem to be bothered about the orders and Jarnail Singh was forced to visit the Mini Secretariat to bring to the notice of the DC that the orders had not been enforced by the PSEB.

However, by the time he could meet the DC, the latter had left. He ended up presenting his grievances to some scribes present there.

Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, July 26
Mr Kuldip Singh, SSP, Ludhiana, has been transferred and Mr Harpreet Singh Sidhu has been posted in his place. Mr Sidhu was earlier posted as SSP, Patiala. The transfer is termed as routine one as other SSPs have also been shifted.

The transfer orders have again hinted at early Assembly elections in the state as this is the home district of Mr Kuldip Singh. He was likely to be posted as Commandant in Chandigarh.
