9 hurt in police firing

Baramula, July 16
At least nine persons were injured, two of them critically, when the police opened fire to disperse a mob throwing stones at Rafiabad in north Kashmir this afternoon.

The police burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse nearly 8,000 people, who were protesting against the killing of four civilians by security forces at Janbazpora late last night.

However, when the demonstrators posed stiff resistance to the police, it opened fired on them resulting in injuries to nine protesters. UNI
