Hide In Picture

Hide In Picture is a program that allows you to ‘hide’ any kind of file inside standard bitmap pictures. The pictures look like normal images, so people will not suspect anything when they see them. This is called steganography. You can use a password to hide your files, and only those who know the password are able to retrieve them — without it, people cannot even be sure there is something hidden in an image. HIP hides data inside a picture by modifying its colours in a way that is almost unnoticeable by the human eye. When a file is hidden, it conceals each part in an area of the picture; the areas used to store each part of the file are chosen by doing several calculations with the password given. When retrieving a file, the same calculations are done to the password and, knowing which area contains each part of the file, it can be reconstructed. If the wrong password is used while retrieving a file, HIP will try to read the file from the wrong areas and will not find anything there. Remember that, when a file is hidden in a picture that already has something in it, the new file may be written in areas where the previous data was stored (as HIP has no way to know that it was already there), so the old file will be erased or corrupted. Also notice that a large file will need more areas to be fully hidden than a small one, so it may be easier to see the modifications in the picture. If you hide a file that is too large, there will be a lot of ‘noise’ in the picture and it will be easy to notice there is something hidden in the picture, even if other people cannot see what is actually hidden in it. Wrapster

As we know, Napster has emerged as the ultimate destination for MP3 trading. People log on to the network each day and participate in one of the largest interactive communities on the Internet. Wrapster enhances the functionality of Napster by extending file exchanges far beyond MP3. In fact, Wrapster allows you to share any file imaginable on Napster’s far-flung network. In addition to MP3, you can trade images, video, software or anything else interests you. Napster only recognises MP3 files, so you may be wondering how this program works. Well, it essentially ‘wraps’ a set of files into an .MP3 header for listing on the network. Using the Wrapster interface, you simply create an archive of the files you want to share. The disguised archive can then placed into the default Napster MP3 folder on your hard drive. Once the archive is on the network, other users can locate it through searches. To find a Wrapster archive, you must first set the parameters to 32 Kb/s for bitrate and 32000 Hz for frequency. This special ‘encoding’ is used to identify Wrapster files. You can then download the "MP3" as you normally would and extract the archive using Wrapster. Wrapster is very simple to use. It is freeware and the file specifications are available for creating Wrapster clones. Download from www.rocketdownload.com

With Favourites Cleaner, you have the option to wipe out or move dead links to an alternate directory for trashing at your leisure.
