Mr Jatinder Singh Bheniwal, Judicial Magistrate, today issued non-bailable warrants against the Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, Giani Kewal Singh, his son Barjinder Singh and a close kin, Joginder Kaur.

Monday clearly belonged to 75 year-old Durga Prasad Sapkota, a Brahmin from Rasuwa district in northern Kathmandu who was treated like the King and loaded with gifts at a ritual at Kalomochan Ghat in Tripureshwar on the banks of Bhagmati river here on the eleventh day of the demise of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah.

Punjabi may be on top of the agenda of the Akali-led government in the state, but the Punjab State University Textbook Board clearly is not. The board has not been given any funds since 1997 and it is now finding it difficult to stay afloat as it is stuck with unsold books worth crores of rupees in its godowns.
