6 militants killed in encounters

Srinagar, April 25
At least four persons were killed and 23 others, including three security personnel, were injured in separate incidents of violence on Kashmir valley since yesterday. Twenty persons, including three ITBP personnel, and 17 civilians were injured when militants hurled a grenade towards a party of the ITBP at Beijbehara in Anantnag district this morning.

One militant, identified as Zahid Ahmad Bhat, alias Irfan, was killed in an encounter with a joint party of the police and the security forces near Tailwani jungles in Anantnag district. A spokesman said the police and the security forces were fired upon by the hiding militant which led to the encounter. One pika gun, three magazines, 62 rounds, three handgrenades and a wireless set were recovered from the slain militant, the police said.
