Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Haryana and Punjab, at a few places in Rajasthan and at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh. Weather was mainly dry in east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm were: Haryana: Ambala 3, Thanesar 2 and Chandigarh and Rania 1 each. Himachal Pradesh: Baijnath and Kahu 5 each, Barsar, Ghamroor, Katuala, Nadaun and Nagrota Surian 3 each, Bhuntar, Berthin, Bhanjar, Guler, Jubbal, Kasol, Kangra, Shimla and Sundernagar 2 each and Nalagarh, Pandoh, Sunibhajji and Sujanpur Tira 1 each. Jammu and Kashmir: Batote 5, Banihal 4 and Jammu and Katra 1 each. Punjab: Dasuya, Mukerian and Nakodar 2 each and Nangal and Nawanshahr 1 each and Rajasthan: Jaipur 1.

Temperature: past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell appreciably in west Rajasthan, fell in Haryana and east Rajasthan, rose in Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were largely below normal in Punjab and west Rajasthan, markedly below normal in Haryana and east Rajasthan, appreciably below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal and below normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 38°C recorded at Banswara (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of 22nd: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of 22nd: Mainly clear sky. Slight rise in maximum temperature and will be around 33°C.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi: Forecast valid until the morning of 22nd: Weather will be mainly dry.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.

Squall report: New Delhi (Palam) experienced a westerly squall at 12.15 p.m. on 19.4.2001 with a maximum wind speed of 84 km ph.
