GROOM, BRIDE AMONG 40 HURT IN MISHAP
Dehra Dun, March 15
Nearly 40 persons, including the bride and groom, were injured when the bus in which they were returning after a marriage fell into a pit on the Ramnagar-Maidawan road in Garhwal. The marriage party was returning to Naudanu village in lansdowne when it fell into a 50-foot deep pit. The accident is attributed to the fact that it was being driven by the conductor. The mishap occurred late at night on March 12. The driver was drunk and the conductor was substituting for him when he lost control over the vehicle. UNI

NO DIFFERENCES WITH SWAMI: BARNALA

Uttaranchal Governor Surjit Singh Barnala has expressed satisfaction at the functioning of the government in Uttaranchal and denied having any difference of opinion with Chief Minister Nityanand Swami. Addressing newspersons at the Rajbhavan here on Tuesday evening, the Governor said a report in a Hindi newspaper stating he had sent a report to the Centre giving adverse remarks on the Swami government was false and baseless. GEN PADMANABHAN LAUDS RIMC CADETS

The Chief of the Army Staff, Gen S. Padmanabhan, has lauded the hard work put in by teachers and cadets at the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC). Addressing a huge gathering of the college cadets on Tuesday evening during the three-day annual reunion at the RIMC, General Padmanabhan called upon the young cadets to preserve the “unique ethos” of the RIMC.
