Volleyball, Hockey trials

Chandigarh, March 8
Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh, which last year established hockey and volleyball academics in the school, will hold trials on April 11 and 12. The age groups will be under-17 years for hockey and for volleyball between 15 and 19. The players should have achieved state or national level. Free boarding. lodging and sports kit will be provided by the school. The school has also provided two SAI coaches namely B.S. Randhawa in hockey and Mohan Nagreta in volleyball.

In the past, SS Gill and Chanderpal represented India in hockey and in volleyball, respectively, and Sunil Kumar has taken part in the Asian Youth Volleyball Meet.

Swig and swing tournament

The Chandigarh Golf Club will organise a swig and swing tournament on March 10, according to Dr Ravinder Chadha, chairman of the media committee of the club. To be played over nine holes, the tournament will be open to all members of the club. The winner of the tournament will be decided by the stableford system where a player is awarded one point for bogey, two points for par and three points for a birdie.

Entries close on March 9 with Mr S.P.S. Matharoo, chairman of the tournament committee.
