Cong councillors boycott review meeting of MC
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, March 6
Congress councillors in the Municipal Corporation (MC) here boycotted a review meeting convened by the Joint Commissioner, Mr Harjinder Singh on Monday as a protest against the apathetic and indifferent attitude of the MC administration towards development works in their respective wards.

The councillors, earlier discussed at length the progress of development works in several wards of the city in Zone B. Without any exception, all those present in the meeting complained that despite repeated requests by them, the MC officials had not carried out patchwork of roads in their respective wards.

Moreover, the maintenance of PCC work was in a critical condition and sewerage in many localities had been choked for a long time. Many councillors lamented that streetlights were not properly maintained and they charged the MC administration with discrimination between city localities, based on political affiliation of the concerned councillors.

Those present in the meeting included Ms Ravinder Kaur Chadha (Ward No. 58), Ms Asha Garg (Ward No. 10), Ms Baljinder Kaur (Ward No. 13), Mr Kirpal Singh (Ward No. 14), Mr Kanwardeep Singh Pappi (Ward No. 17), Mr Balwinder Sandhu (Ward No. 18), Mr Mohan Lal (Ward No. 53), Mr Kuldip Janda (Ward No. 11) and Mr Suresh Soni (Ward No. 56).
